The San Jose Management Association is proud to kick off a series of professional development events in honor of Kathy Lang who was passionate to offer this type of programming for our SJMA members. It was through SJMA, Kathy’s passion for employee engagement and professional development really blossomed. She arranged different speakers and learning opportunities that not only benefited members of SJMA but other organizations like MMANC, MISAC, EIGL and ICMA. In addition to her passion for professional development she also initiated San Jose’s Citywide Mentoring Program and the Employee Art Program. Kathy Lang had a 30 plus year career with the City of San Jose, starting as a part-time Library Clerk and eventually becoming an IT Manager for the Environmental Services Department. As Kathy’s roles with the City evolved and became more supervisory, she joined the San Jose Management Association. During her tenure with San Jose Management Association, she held different officer roles including President. This provided her an opportunity to bond and network with other managers.
The first of these SJMA Kathy Lang Professional Development Series will be featuring Kim Walesh, Deputy City Manager.
Confidence is defined as “Your belief and judgment of what you are capable of, and your ability to succeed.” Kim will explore the confidence gap between women and men and how to boost confidence and increase your impact. Based on the ground-breaking book, “The Confidence Code” by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, you will have a chance for small group discussion and interactive questions and answers on this topic that is relevant to ANY GENDER. We encourage all members, male and female, to sign up for this unique program.
